    The martyr tsar Nicholay’s Chapel
    On Gostinodvorskaya Square in Verhneudinsk (now on Revolution Square on Ulan-Ude since 1905) there was a chapel of a prelate Innokenty Irkutsky. In 1871 a kyakhta merchant of the top guild Yakov Andreevich Nemchinov built it for “subsistence maintenance” of Tunguisk missionary camp in Muhorshibirsk region.

    It is one of the oldest churches in Ulan-Ude. The construction of the wooden graveyard church started in 1770; it was rebuilt in 1809 as a stone church and was consecrated in 1816.

    Hodigitriya cathedral named in honor of Holy Mother Hodigitriya is the first stone building in Verkhneudinsk.

    Catholic community in Buryatia was set up in the second half of XIX century. The members were mainly qualified workers who came from Poland, Lithuania to build Transsiberian rail road.

    It was built at the initiative of veteran's society of railway workers and active support of the East-Siberian Rail Road administration.It was blessed on July 20, 2006. 'Hie cathedral is located near railway station. The travelers have the opportunity to place a candle to St. Nicolay.

    Originally it was situated in right bank of the Uda river. In 1809 it was relocated to the left side and soon an attached premise was added, where there is Inno-kentievsky chapel now.It was closed in 30-ies. It housed NKVD (Peoples Commissariat for Internal Affairs), later a canteen for workers. At the suit of believers it was opened for office service in May 1945. It was the only church that was working in Soviet years.
