Ulan-Ude is a unique city located in the Eastern part of Russia, near lake Baikal, it is the capital of the Republic of Buryatia. Ulan-Ude situated in a picturesque valley at the confluence of two rivers - the UDA and Selenga. The history of the city begins in 1666, when the Udinsky Ostrog was founded. In the XIX century the city on the Selenga River became a notable merchant Verkhneudinsk, and in 1934 was renamed to Ulan-Ude.
The city of Ulan-Ude is a center of political and business activity of the Republic of Buryatia, where more than four hundred thousand people, representatives of more than hundred nationalities peacefully live together. Since 1990, Ulan-Ude is included to the list of historical cities of Russia. On its territory there are more than two hundred monuments of history, culture and architecture. There are six museums and five professional theatres to preserve the history, to develop cultural and national traditions.
Ulan-Ude is actively preparing to celebrate its 350-th anniversary in 2016. Today newly built modern hotels, restaurants and cafes welcome guests from all over the world and offer to taste the national cuisine, to see entertainment complexes and clubs, bright shows and performances.
2013 year is declared as a Year of tourism and hospitality in Ulan-Ude. During the year, the guests of our city will be delighted to take part in interesting excursions, local events, national holidays and warm  greetings of Ulan-Ude citizens!
